According to leaked emails, yet another controversy has surrounded Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. The controversial figure has come up in headlines once again, due to his alleged comments to a House Congressional Committee, threatening to “subpoena” members of said committee earlier this year. The emails allegedly claim that Rosenstein threatened to turn the tables on the Committee’s inquiries on the Russia probe. According to an account, Rosenstein also launched a “personal attack” against an unspecified committee member for “vigorous oversight.” This is yet another chapter in the saga of the relationship between the Deputy Attorney General and his handling of the Russia probe into President Donald J. Trump and his alleged ties to the Russian Government during the 2016 Election. Rosenstein has found himself in many situations in which he’s been criticized for pressing for more control over the said investigation, and some has accused him of abusing his power, as well as having a personal vendetta against the President, of who’s Administration ironically, he’s a part of. Rosenstein assumed his role as the head Justice Dept. official over the investigation after Attorney Jeff Sessions had recused himself from investigation amid pressure from both sides of the political aisle.
